Using Your NDIS Plan

Using Your NDIS Plan

Understand how your NDIS goals, funding categories and plan management type connect with the supports you choose, and how we can help you make the most of your plan. Start with the plan details you know, and we will explain the proposed service arrangements. If documents are needed, we will agree on a suitable way to share them.

Using Your NDIS Plan

Using your NDIS plan starts with goals, choices and practical fit

Your NDIS plan helps you make practical decisions about support: what support you are considering, when and where you need it, what outcome matters to you and whether it fits our current capacity and the way you choose to live.

Goals first Supports linked to your plan goals. We can explain our service scope while you decide whether it fits what you want to achieve.
Funding categories Where each support usually sits. Your plan and current NDIS rules still determine what can actually be claimed.
Plan management NDIA-managed, plan-managed or self-managed. We confirm the correct invoicing pathway before regular support begins.
Track spending Clear invoices and records. Good documentation makes it easier to understand what was delivered and what was charged.

Overview

In this guide

The main points, in plain language. Each one is explained further down the page.

Overview

Know the goals you want support to contribute to

Use the plan goals as a starting point, then decide what practical outcomes you want support to contribute to in everyday life.

Not sure where this fits in your plan?

Our team can discuss it with you, your family or your support coordinator. There is no obligation, and we use plain language.

02

Understand the relevant funding arrangement

Know which funding category and plan management type applies, and ask the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) or your plan manager when you need funding advice.

03

Ask how services will be delivered and invoiced

Before support begins, clarify scheduling, applicable rates, travel, cancellations and how invoices will be handled.

04

Review whether support remains useful

A service should continue because it is contributing to the participant’s goals and routines, not simply because it has always been there.

05

Seek plan or funding advice from appropriate NDIS channels when needed

Bright Heart Co can explain its own service arrangements, while formal plan or funding advice should come from the NDIA, your plan manager or your support coordinator.

Your goals

Connect the support request with your own plan

A support that is useful to one person may not be funded in the same way for another. Consider your goals, available budgets, plan conditions and management arrangements before committing to services.

  1. 1 Identify the support you are considering.
  2. 2 Check the relevant budget and conditions with an appropriate plan contact.
  3. 3 Confirm the provider’s proposed service and charges.

Using Your NDIS Plan

Keep track of changes that affect service

Your plan can change over time, and your support arrangements may need to change with it.

Plan dates, funding periods, management arrangements and available balances may affect how support can be scheduled and paid for. Tell the team when something changes and seek clarification before services exceed an agreed arrangement.

  • Ask who will receive and check invoices.
  • Keep contact details for your plan manager or NDIA contact.
  • Avoid assuming unspent funds can be used for any purpose.

How it works

Official information and independent pathways

These external resources can help you check current guidance. Individual funding and support decisions depend on your circumstances.

Plan example

What it can look like

Connecting goals to supports

For example, if your plan goal is to be more independent at home, Household Tasks and Life Skills Development supports might be used together, funded from the categories that match your plan.

  1. 1 Goals linked to supports
  2. 2 Funding categories explained
  3. 3 Spending tracked clearly

Example only. The right arrangement depends on the participant’s goals, circumstances, funding where relevant, suitability, availability and what Bright Heart Co can confirm.
