Participant Resources

Practical guides, checklists and useful links for participants and families, from preparing for a first conversation to understanding your plan, your rights and where to find independent help. Resources are written in plain language, and you can ask which alternative formats can be provided.

Participant Resources

NDIS participant resources for rights, choices and practical next steps

Participant information is organised into practical pathways for rights, agreements, NDIS plan context, feedback, complaints and concern reporting. The goal is simple: help you find important information without needing to ask someone else. Start with your rights, using your NDIS plan or feedback and complaints.

Participant Resources

Prepare for a useful support conversation

Keep a short record of the support you want, useful routines, questions, preferred contacts and any changes that need discussion. You can use your own notes; there is no need to complete a formal document before making an enquiry.

  1. 1 My priorities: what I want to make easier.
  2. 2 My preferences: what helps me feel heard and comfortable.
  3. 3 My questions: information I need before deciding.

Keep important information easy to find

A few simple habits can make your support easier to manage.

Resource page reviewed: 7 October 2026. Bright Heart Co resources explain our own processes; links to NDIS or NDIS Commission information are external guidance and should be checked at the source for the latest version.

It can help to keep your agreement, schedule, key contacts and consent preferences together. Ask for information in an accessible format if the original version is difficult to use.

  • Check that contact details are current.
  • Ask for explanations of unfamiliar terms.
  • Keep copies of feedback or change requests where useful.

How starting works

Use a resource in four steps

Start with your priorities. Practical details and responsibilities are then confirmed before support begins.

  1. 1 Choose a relevant resource
  2. 2 Save or print it if useful
  3. 3 Write the points you want to discuss
  4. 4 Use your notes in the conversation

Safety & quality

Safety and independent help

Use these resources to prepare questions, understand your options and find independent help. You do not need to work through everything at once.

Safety, privacy and your voice

You can ask questions about privacy, raise a concern or request help communicating what matters to you.

Share only information that is relevant to your enquiry. If a situation involves immediate danger, use an emergency pathway rather than a website form. For non-emergency feedback, explain what happened and the outcome you would like.

What it can look like

Using the resources

For example, before a plan review you might use the support review notes to list what is working and what is not, then bring them to the conversation with your planner or support coordinator.

  1. 1 Prepare for reviews
  2. 2 Keep track of what is working
  3. 3 Bring notes to meetings

Example only. The right arrangement depends on the participant’s goals, circumstances, funding where relevant, suitability, availability and what Bright Heart Co can confirm.
