Getting Started

Getting Started

New to Bright Heart Co? Here is what happens from first contact to your first support session: what information helps, what we will ask and how we agree on support before anything begins. You do not need every detail finalised before you contact us; we will guide you through each step.

Getting Started

Getting started with NDIS support should feel clear, practical and unpressured

The early steps are about understanding what the participant wants, checking service fit and availability, clarifying communication and agreeing practical details before support begins. We explain each step so you know what to expect. Review our supports and funding and fees before deciding what to discuss with our team.

Overview

In this guide

The main points, in plain language. Each one is explained further down the page.

Overview

First conversation

Start with the support you are considering, the participant’s priorities, location and preferred way to communicate.

Not sure where this fits in your plan?

Our team can discuss it with you, your family or your support coordinator. There is no obligation, and we use plain language.

02

Needs and preferences

We clarify routines, worker preferences, accessibility considerations and what the participant wants support to make easier.

03

Service fit and availability

Before anything is agreed, we check whether the requested support, location, timing and current capacity are a workable match.

04

Agreement and practical setup

Schedules, responsibilities, communication, pricing information and service expectations are made clear before support begins.

05

Starting support and reviewing it

Early feedback is used to confirm what is working and adjust details that need to change.

Getting Started

Start with a small amount of useful information

You can begin with your suburb, the support you are considering, preferred times and how you would like us to respond. Detailed records can be discussed later if they are needed.

  • You do not need to upload an entire NDIS plan.
  • Please let us know about communication or accessibility preferences.
  • Please let us know if you are enquiring for yourself or on behalf of someone else, with their permission.

Getting Started

Before the first support visit

Planned introductions and early check-ins help the first visits go smoothly.

The practical arrangement should be clear before support begins: what will happen, who will attend, when the visit starts, how it is paid for and who to contact about changes.

  • Confirm the agreed tasks and boundaries.
  • Check access instructions and relevant safety information.
  • Ask how the first visits will be reviewed.

How it works

What happens next

The next step depends on suitability, current availability and the information needed to plan support.

01

Describe your priorities

Explain what you want to make easier, your location, preferred timing and how you would like to communicate.

02

Explore the practical fit

Discuss the requested support, relevant skills, accessibility, schedule and any information needed to assess suitability.

03

Agree before starting

Clarify the tasks, responsibilities, costs, consent and contact arrangements before support begins.

04

Review how it is working

Raise questions early and discuss changes when routines, goals, funding or support needs change.

Safety & quality

Safety, privacy and your voice

You can ask questions about privacy, raise a concern or request help communicating what matters to you.

Share only information that is relevant to your enquiry. If a situation involves immediate danger, use an emergency pathway rather than a website form. For non-emergency feedback, explain what happened and the outcome you would like.

Getting started example

What it can look like

An example of the early steps

For example, you might contact us, discuss your support needs, review a service agreement and meet your worker before the first regular session. Timing depends on suitability and availability.

  1. 1 First conversation arranged with you
  2. 2 Written agreement before support starts
  3. 3 Introductions before regular sessions

Example only. The right arrangement depends on the participant’s goals, circumstances, funding where relevant, suitability, availability and what Bright Heart Co can confirm.
